Product Description
RAL 5021 water blue high gloss polyester powder coating is for the metal frames, side plates and lifting-arm components of hydraulic floor jacks used in electric vehicle servicing. Start with a coated sample to confirm the colour and sheen for your equipment.
Discuss a RAL 5021 coating sample
Water blue with a high gloss finish
RAL 5021 brings a blue-green tone to garage equipment. The high gloss finish gives the colour a reflective appearance across the frame and side panels. Approving one coated reference sample helps the manufacturer coordinate separate parts before assembly.
The official colour name is RAL 5021 Water blue. Compare a physical colour reference with the coated sample under agreed lighting. A screen preview is useful for narrowing the choice; the finished sample is the reference for production.
Use our custom RAL colour selector to compare other colour options before sending your sample requirements.

Powder coating for floor jack components
This application focuses on the outer finish of steel jack parts, including the chassis, welded side plates, lifting arm and other components included in the coating drawing. The polyester powder is applied electrostatically and oven-cured on prepared metal.

Typical projects include hydraulic floor jacks for EV service workshops, trolley jacks supplied under an equipment brand, and matching garage equipment parts. Confirm the substrate and service conditions for each component before selecting the coating.
Workshop equipment may encounter oil, grease, cleaning products, surface scuffs and damp storage conditions. Define these exposures when requesting a sample. Adhesion, impact behaviour, abrasion and chemical resistance should be evaluated separately using agreed methods and acceptance criteria.
If corrosion testing is required, specify the substrate, pretreatment, film thickness, test method and pass criteria together. The colour code and the jack's lifting capacity do not establish coating performance.

Coating welded steel parts before assembly
Prepare welds, edges and the steel surface
Remove oil, welding residue, rust and loose scale. Select mechanical and chemical pretreatment to suit the steel and intended environment. Check welds and edges during the trial, because a uniform reading on a flat panel does not confirm coverage throughout the component.
Support and mask the actual components
Size the hangers for the individual parts or subassemblies being coated. The reference jack's 31.5 kg net weight is the assembled equipment weight. It should not be used as a substitute for the actual hanger load calculation.
Place hanging points on suitable non-visible areas where possible. Keep grounding contact points clean, and mask threads, bearing seats and other functional surfaces as specified by the equipment drawing.
Check recesses and inside corners
Recesses and U-shaped sections can be difficult to coat because of the Faraday cage effect. Check grounding, gun angle, nozzle choice, voltage, current and powder delivery on a component trial. Increasing air velocity alone may make coverage worse in some corners.
Nordson's powder coating troubleshooting guide (PDF) explains the variables affecting penetration into recesses. Use the instructions for your own equipment when setting up the line.
Confirm film thickness and the curing schedule
The proposed 70–90 µm dry film thickness can be reviewed as a trial target. Confirm the final range against the selected powder's technical data sheet and the component requirements. Extra thickness alone does not establish corrosion resistance.
For the supplied specification, hold the parts for 15 minutes after the metal reaches 190°C. Check how quickly the thickest sections reach the required temperature. Coat and cure the bare metal parts before fitting heat-sensitive seals, rubber pads, plastic components and lubricated assemblies, following the jack manufacturer's approved assembly sequence.
Our colour matching and powder coating manufacturing process explains how sample approval fits into production.
How much powder is needed per floor jack?
Start with the actual coated area from the drawings or a measured set of components. Overall jack dimensions do not provide the area of all faces, folds, welds and recesses.
Theoretical coverage depends on powder density and dry film thickness:
For illustration, assume a powder density of 1.50 g/cm³, an 80 µm film and 0.525 m² of coated area per jack. The deposited film would weigh about 63 g, equivalent to roughly 16 component sets per kilogram before process losses. These assumed values illustrate the calculation; they are not measured yield data for this product.
For purchasing, measure fresh powder consumption across a representative production batch. Account for overspray, reclaim restrictions, colour changes, cleaning losses and rework. Overall material utilisation and first-pass transfer efficiency are different measurements, so confirm which figure is being recorded.
Request a RAL 5021 sample for your jack parts
Send us a part photo or drawing, the steel and pretreatment details, your colour reference and the required gloss. Include the available curing conditions, batch quantity and any performance tests required by the project.
For a TZ830026X-EV application, identify which parts need the water blue finish and which areas must remain uncoated. This helps define the sample and trial coating requirements.
